Screw you, Daily Beast. →
You think throwing “commercial art” and people who graduate with non-design degrees filling positions to use Photoshop might skew the data? All I see is “+13% growth” unlike, say, journalism. Pot, meet kettle.

– A Ghanaian travel agent’s assessment of the Spanish. The article goes on to critique Europe’s debt and violence, but really, this is what resonates because in America, we call it “browsing Facebook and Tumblr at work”.

shortformblog: Sometime in late summer I took a break with some of the other engineers and went to a local bar on Castro street in Mountain View. The bar was the St. James Infirmary and it had a 30 foot wonder woman statue inside among other interesting things. At some point in the evening I mentioned that it was sad that Lynx was not going to be able to display many of the HTML extensions that...

Your feel-good story of the day. →
The next time Google breaks its “don’t be evil” slogan, remember this: an Indian boy used Google Earth, a quarter-century after being separated from his family on a midnight train ride, to successfully find his mother’s village and reunite. “It was just like being Superman. You are able to go over and take a photo mentally and ask, ‘Does this match?’ And...

Facebook's revolutionary new feature: students... →
Apparently I missed the news this week that Facebook is “introducing” a new function: groups for students of a particular school to congregate. This seems…familiar. Did they get their idea from that David Fincher movie?  Coming soon: Twitter introduces “Chirping” and Google+ redesigns (again) with a “Search for Friends” API.

– Unless those phones are Jitterbugs, you parents need to observe the 3 R’s of learning: ridiculous, rich, and irresponsible. [If ‘rithmatic counts, so does that.] Stop texting and go play on the jungle gym!

Guys, The Atlantic just reblogged me.
Granted, it was a reblog of someone’s reblog for a post I made about one of the publication’s original reports, but still….progress. :)

“As a kid, I couldn’t get enough of an animated movie called Rock-a-Doodle....”
– Chris Heller cautions Ninja Turtles fans from retreating into their shells upon news of the Michael Bay-splosion remake in the pipeline, in turn warning against being too attached to nostalgia.  To which I say: Don Bluth was a 90’s animation god. But you have a point.

But isn’t that why we have, y’know, search engines built into our web browsers? Hating Android is one thing, but trying to pre-empt one of the pillars of the Internet is kinda silly.
