Say what you will about Google’s ethical evolution, but their ads—including this new one for Google Maps—are genius.
Would it kill Google to have some consistency in their maps and not use stills from 2006? Above: the intersection of 12th and Peachtree with their fancy new 3/4 sky camera. But when you hit Street View, you get this…

Followed by this ten paces south. Behold, the future!

Sigh…
This is Steve. He’s 95% blind, but thanks to technology, he can drive (and get lunch). I’ve got to say, I was a little skeptical when I first read Wired’s February cover story on Google’s quest to build self-driving cars, but cases like this are a winner. The tech may be years out, but it will be interesting to see where this road takes us—on its own.
The only major landmark drawn into Atlanta during Google Maps’s Quest mode? Tech Tower. There must be an alum on the team.
(Not including the BofA Tower, one of the tallest in the US? Tsk tsk!)
Dickensian doodle of the day. Delightful.
